Our Program Philosophy

The purpose of the Adult Education Parent Cooperative is to provide the best possible environment for the development of the young child and at the same time assist parents in understanding and enjoying the growing process. The Co-op expects and encourages family participation in all aspects of the school program.

Through play, a child learns about himself and his world. Using learning tools especially chosen for the young child and associating with children his own age, helps a child grow more confident and capable socially, emotionally, mentally and physically. At the Co-op, participating parents can observe and listen to their children as they learn, and so be better equipped to meet the children's needs and understand them. Parents are able to observe trained teachers handle difficult or confusing situations. Monthly evening meetings provide opportunities to discuss these observations and other subjects relating to parenting the young child. In addition, a variety of professional resource people from the community are invited to share their expertise. We believe our cooperative program will increase both the parent's and the child's understanding and enjoyment of each other.
